Place

Place, 36″ x 48″ acrylic on canvas. Available for purchase at Somebody’s Gallery in Petoskey, MI.

I took some freedoms with this scene in Port Oneida Farms which has become so familiar to me. I need another visit up north to see it. Maybe this autumn?

I’m enjoying the cooler weather; how about you?

…and Two More Paintings

Port Oneida 4, a 36″ x 48″ acrylic on canvas. Available.

Field and Sky 2, 36″ x 36″ acrylic on canvas. Available.

September was very productive (seven finished paintings with work on three others). Above are the last two which were finished before the end of the month.

This productivity was, in part, thanks to a couple of artists whose philosophy of “just show up,” or “put the time in the studio” motivated me to make better use of my day. In the past I’ve wasted a lot of time waiting for the inspiration to hit. Lately, however, I’ve challenged myself to just pick up the brushes and clean off the palette and see what happens. It’s amazing what happens.

Angled Sun, Port Oneida

“Angled Sun, Port Oneida” – a 36″x48″ acrylic on canvas. Available.

Late-day sun (as well as very early morning) can create some amazing effects. This historic farm was so stunning in person, I must have taken 75 photos to make sure I caught the essence! The video below shows a little better close-up.

Feel free to use the Contact page to inquire about purchasing, or if you have any questions or comments. I’d love to hear from you!

Two New Paintings

LG-Channel, The, lighter photo
Channel – 36×36 acrylic on canvas. Available.

Channel (above) – A unique shaft of light cuts across the Grand Haven channel on this autumn day, turning the shaded areas on the hill to a rich burgundy. This piece should definitely be seen in person.

LG-Oneida
Oneida – 40×16 acrylic on canvas. Available.

Have you seen the many historic farms in the Port Oneida area north of Glen Arbor? I’ve been there only once and can’t wait to go back again. Old white buildings always speak to me.
