The Soul of a Painting

“Moving” is a new 40″ x 40″ acrylic on canvas.

When it comes to naming paintings, I always look deeply into the soul of the image that came out of my hands onto the canvas, and to the best of my ability, attach a word to it. More often than not, the word that describes what I see in this melange of strokes and marks of paint “just happens” to mirror multiple things that are going on in my natural world and in the spiritual.

I’m not changing addresses, but there are other moves / transitions in the works. And I’m feeling a strong sense that I’m on the cusp of some changes beyond the ones I know of. For some people, change is unsettling; but I’ve always loved change, so this is very exciting to me.

“Moving” is available for purchase. Feel free to contact me by email (karin@knelsonart.com) with any comments, questions, or to inquire about prices for this or any other piece.

A Drone-Enabled Painting

LG-Planted
Planting – 30″ x 40″ acrylic on canvas. Available.

My ideal place to live would be on the top of a hill, surrounded by fields and crops, and allowing me to see for long, long distances. When we go for drives, those hilltop views (when we can find them) grab hold of me and make me NEED TO PAINT.

Last autumn, I was seriously longing for a ride in a small plane, so I could see even farther. Then it dawned on me: I could make that happen with a drone. Duh!

The painting above was inspired by a photo from our subsequent purchase of a DJI Mavic Mini. The fields were half under clouds, and most of them not yet planted; the painting therefore includes plenty of artistic license. I can’t wait to see what delights present themselves, now that planting season is finally here.

May your weekend be filled with many peaceful views.
