I took some freedoms with this scene in Port Oneida Farms which has become so familiar to me. I need another visit up north to see it. Maybe this autumn?
I’m enjoying the cooler weather; how about you?

I hope you enjoy the new pieces inspired by spring, plus a revision to the recent floral titled “Overflow.”

You’ll probably notice this isn’t a typical composition for me. However, those trees were proud as can be, standing in the middle of the field. How could I break their hearts and not paint them front and center?
Hopefully you can zoom in to see the farm in the far distance. This was a truly inspiring sight, on Perry Road, just west of A-37. How blessed am I, that these oh-so-varied rural scenes are only minutes from our house?!
September was very productive (seven finished paintings with work on three others). Above are the last two which were finished before the end of the month.
This productivity was, in part, thanks to a couple of artists whose philosophy of “just show up,” or “put the time in the studio” motivated me to make better use of my day. In the past I’ve wasted a lot of time waiting for the inspiration to hit. Lately, however, I’ve challenged myself to just pick up the brushes and clean off the palette and see what happens. It’s amazing what happens.

Late-day sun (as well as very early morning) can create some amazing effects. This historic farm was so stunning in person, I must have taken 75 photos to make sure I caught the essence! The video below shows a little better close-up.
Feel free to use the Contact page to inquire about purchasing, or if you have any questions or comments. I’d love to hear from you!

For anybody near the Petoskey, Michigan area, I will be at Somebody’s Gallery for a Meet and Greet from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 3, and would love to see you.
I’m taking them seven new paintings, including the two above, plus a newly finished piece that will be shown for the first time at the reception.

Below are four new paintings finished in the last month.
I’m very grateful for the continued strong support of my art, and want to say a big “Thank You!” to all the collectors, both recent and those who go back with me a few years. (I’ve been painting full-time since 2010, so that’s quite a list!) Among the remarkable volume of paintings sold this last month, here is a look at a few of them which were favorites, either of mine, or of the viewers on social media. (below)
Thanks to all of you! I’d love to hear from you, and it would be especially wonderful to see photos of my paintings in their special place in your home. You can send a photo directly to my email address at karin@knelsonart.com.
I hope you’re all having a great summer and staying cool!!!

This place! I’ve painted it from the bottom looking up, and now the top looking down.
To get a feel for the scale of this steep hill, zoom in to find the tiny yellow sign to the left of the big stand of trees.
These small paintings could be displayed as a diptych. Or each could stand on its own.
